There are a total of 173 moons orbiting the 8 planets in our solar system

1. There are a total of 173 moons orbiting the 8 planets in our solar systems. An additional 15 moons orbit the 9 dwarf planets, 5 of which orbit the most well-known of the dwarf planets, Dwarf Pluto.
