The Montgomery Bus Boycott started on December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat to a white person, and lasted until December 20, 1956, when the supreme court upheld the federal district court ruling which stated that Alabama's racial segregating laws for buses were unconstitutional.
